Clarifai Privacy Policy

Last Updated: June 16, 2017

The Privacy Shield program, which is administered by the International Trade Administration (ITA) within the U.S. Department of Commerce, enables U.S.-based organizations to join the Privacy Shield Framework in order to benefit from the adequacy determination. Clarifai has submitted an application to join the Privacy Shield Framework to the Department of Commerce (via their website at https://www.privacyshield.gov) and is committed to the principles of notice, choice, accountability for onward transfer, security, data integrity and purpose limitation, access, recourse, enforcement and liability. When a participant’s privacy policy is available online, it must include a link to the Department of Commerce’s Privacy Shield website and a link to the website or complaint submission form of the independent recourse mechanisms that is available to investigate individual complaints. Clarifai has selected the ICDR/AAA as its independent recourse mechanism: http://info.adr.org/safeharbor. Finally, as a last resort and in limited situations, EU individuals may seek redress from the Privacy Shield Panel, a binding arbitration mechanism. For questions or complaints related to our privacy practices, please contact us at legal@clarifai.com.

How We Collect and Use Information

The purpose of this section is to describe what data we collect, how we collect it and what we use it for. Simply put, we collect data that is publicly available on the internet, from our website, our mobile app, our API and our partners to teach our machines to be faster, smarter and more accurate. You are free to explore our websites without providing any information about yourself. However, if you sign up for the API, then we will require collection of Personal Data and other data as described herein. In addition, if you visit our website and allow tracking mechanisms, we may also collect IP address, browser, geographic information, length of visit and pageviews, referral source and the like.

Sharing Your Information

We seek to train machines to recognize images, but there are lots of other things that go into building our products that we can’t do alone. Things like sending you email or figuring out the most popular features of our mobile app. We partner with other businesses to take care of that for us. Sometimes that means sharing your data with them. However, we value the trust you place in us so we carefully screen our partners and ensure that they can only see data that is absolutely necessary for them to get the job done.

What Happens if We Sell the Company?

We hope that if we sell the company, it will be to keep the Services running, in which case the buyer would need to assume all your information so they could seamlessly continue providing the Services to you. Sometimes things don’t work out and we have to sell the company in pieces. If that happens, our intent is to provide you with notice so that you can make your choice.
